Why is stafford going number 1 pick?

i'm from the detroit area and can tell you that if the lions take stafford #1, i will never watch another game. yes, he is the most nfl ready qb in the draft, but the lions need talent in the trenches. the best thing the lions can do with their copious picks is draft as few "glory" positions as possible. bama's smith or usc's mua (forgive the spelling - not a clue!) make more sense at #1. they cannot take a qb with their two 1st round picks. stafford will be gone by the time they pick again, i would imagine.
